About PDF Compressor

PixelCanvas Studio's PDF Compressor is designed to reduce the size of PDF documents so they are easier to store, upload or share. Compression can be especially useful for PDFs containing large images or scanned pages.

How to compress a PDF

  1. Upload your PDF.
  2. Choose Balanced, Strong or Maximum compression.
  3. Select Compress PDF.
  4. Wait for processing to finish.
  5. Compare the original and resulting file sizes.
  6. Download the compressed PDF if the result meets your needs.

Choosing a compression level

Balanced compression aims to reduce file size while retaining good visual quality. Strong compression prioritizes a smaller file. Maximum compression prioritizes the smallest practical output. The best setting depends on the document and how it will be used.

Why a PDF may not shrink much

Some PDFs are already highly optimized or contain mostly text and vector content. In those cases, browser-side structural optimization may produce only a small reduction. PDFs containing large photographs or scans may require image recompression for significant savings.

Tip:

Always compare the compressed PDF with the original before sending it. Check small text, scanned pages, images and important graphics to make sure the quality remains acceptable.

Privacy and file handling

The PDF processing in this tool is performed locally in your browser. Your selected PDF is not uploaded to PixelCanvas Studio's server by this page. Review the PixelCanvas Studio Privacy Policy for the site's broader analytics, advertising and data practices.
