About Image to Text OCR
PixelCanvas Studio's Image to Text OCR tool is designed to turn visible text in images into editable text. It can be useful for notes, printed documents, screenshots, signs, receipts and other images where you need to reuse the written content.
How to use the OCR tool
- Take a photo or upload an image containing readable text.
- Review the image preview.
- Select Extract Text to run OCR.
- Review and correct the recognized text in the editable text box.
- Copy the text or download it as a text file.
How to improve OCR accuracy
Use a sharp, well-lit image with the text facing the camera. Avoid severe blur, glare, extreme perspective and very small text. Clean backgrounds and strong contrast between text and its background can also help recognition.
OCR limitations
OCR is not perfect. Handwriting, decorative fonts, low-resolution images, unusual layouts, tables and images containing overlapping objects may produce errors. Always proofread extracted text before using it for important documents or records.
For a receipt or document, take the photo straight-on and include the entire page in the frame. A higher-resolution original generally gives OCR more information to work with.
Privacy and file handling
