About the HEIC Converter
PixelCanvas Studio's HEIC Converter helps convert HEIC and HEIF photos into more widely supported JPG or PNG images. This can be useful when a photo needs to work with an application, website or device that does not support Apple's HEIC format.
How to use the HEIC Converter
- Select one or multiple HEIC/HEIF files.
- Choose JPG or PNG as the output format.
- Adjust JPG quality if JPG is selected.
- Select Convert HEIC.
- Review the converted previews.
- Download the converted images.
HEIC vs JPG vs PNG
HEIC is designed for efficient storage and can preserve high-quality photographs at relatively small file sizes. JPG is broadly compatible and is commonly used for photographs on websites and devices. PNG is useful when lossless image data or transparency is important, although PNG files can be larger for photographs.
Quality settings
JPG quality controls the balance between file size and image detail. Higher quality generally produces a larger file with fewer compression artifacts. PNG output is lossless in the basic conversion workflow and therefore does not use the JPG quality setting in the same way.
If compatibility is your main goal, JPG is usually the practical choice for ordinary photographs. Keep your original HEIC files when you may need their original quality or metadata later.
Privacy and file handling
HEIC decoding and conversion are performed in the browser using the HEIC conversion library loaded by this page. The selected image files are processed on your device rather than uploaded to a PixelCanvas Studio application server.
