About the Image Resizer
PixelCanvas Studio's Image Resizer lets you change the pixel dimensions of an image for websites, documents, social posts, forms and other digital uses. You can enter a custom width and height or start with a preset dimension. When the aspect ratio is locked, changing one dimension automatically adjusts the other to help prevent unwanted stretching.
How to use the Image Resizer
- Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Enter the desired width and height in pixels.
- Keep the aspect ratio locked when you want to preserve the original proportions.
- Choose a preset if one matches your intended use.
- Select Resize Image and review the preview.
- Download the resized image when you are satisfied with the result.
Custom dimensions and aspect ratio
Width and height determine the final pixel dimensions of the image. Keeping the aspect ratio locked is useful when you want to reduce or enlarge an image without making people or objects look stretched. If you intentionally need a specific width and height that does not match the original proportions, you can unlock the ratio and enter both dimensions independently.
Choosing the right image size
The best dimensions depend on where the image will be used. Large dimensions can provide more detail but may increase file size, while smaller dimensions can load and share more easily. When a platform gives you a required pixel size, use those dimensions rather than relying on a general preset.
For important images, keep a copy of the original before resizing. If you are making an image smaller, avoid repeatedly resizing the already-resized copy because repeated processing can reduce quality.
